The PPC International Cycling Tour of Greece 2024 enters Thessaly today

by

The PPC International Cycling Tour of Greece 2024 continues today with the 2nd stage, 169.78 kilometers long, from Katerini to Karditsa. The peloton will start at 13:00 noon from the Municipal Park of Katerinis and will head south, leaving behind Pieria and Macedonia, to enter Thessaly, the region so affected by the floods that despite the difficulties it faces , declares “present” at this great sporting event.

After passing the first uphill sprint in Livadi (1st category, km 34.8) and the first intermediate straight sprint in Elassona (km 65), the athletes will climb the “barren Meluna” sung by Thanasis Papakonstantinou, the mountain he was looking at when he was small from Tyrnavos and appeared in his sleep as a nightmare with his sides full of Turkish fez (hence the “”sprout a poppy”). The second intermediate sprint will follow in Larissa (km 110) and the stage will be completed outside from the Municipal Stadium of Karditsa.

This is a stage of medium difficulty, where the breakaway group will be formed, while in the peloton, the sprinter groups will try to control the time difference, so that we can lead to a mass sprint at the finish, where the fastest athletes are expected to be the protagonists.
