In rhythm Final Four are all moving to Panathinaikos AKTOR, with the team flying to Berlin on Wednesday (22/05) and playing the semi-final against Fenerbahce on Friday (24/05, 19:00).
THE Matias Lessor spoke to the NOVA camera about his award Mike James as Euroleague MVPfor the semi-final with Fenerbahcebut also about whether he wants a final with him Olympic.
At the same time, he gave a… characteristic answer, to what intends to do if the “greens” reach the end of the road and conquer the seventh Euroleague their.
In detail what he said:
You are a member of the best five in the Euroleague, how does it feel?
“I feel great! I am grateful for that and want to thank everyone who voted for me and helped me reach this goal of mine! I did it last year too so my goal is to be there every year! To my surprise the coach was not awarded as the coach of the year. I understand that Real have broken the record for wins this year, but I think it is an achievement in itself to have a group of players who are new to a team and achieve what we have achieved. I was surprised with the decision but as you said we had a lot of ups and downs in the year and to experience moments like these (in the final four) makes it all worth it.”
Did you expect to get the title of most valuable player as well? Mike James beat him.
“I can’t say he doesn’t deserve it, but to my surprise they gave it to him even though he didn’t go with his team to the final four, but you can’t say it’s a scandal. He had a fantastic season, the whole regular season he was amazing, maybe he didn’t play well in the playoffs to be able to take his team to the final four, but if you think about what he did all year you can definitely say that he deserves it.”
Everyone wants a Greek final, you want a Greek final?
“No! (laughs) It’s ok, we’ve played them several times this year, I don’t want to get into all that, because it doesn’t matter who wins or loses, there’s a lot of things that will be around this game that will matter! It goes without saying that I will play against whoever happens to be in the final. And I’m not saying that I don’t want to play with them because I’m afraid of them, but the fact is that when we play with them, a strange atmosphere is created and everyone is very irritated, and I think that a match against Olympiakos will be too much (laughs)”.
So not a Greek final, but you want to be in the final, does that mean you’ll be playing against Real Madrid?
“As I said I will play in the final against anyone, always the things around the game that happen are more important than the game itself when it comes to the…Greek final. I don’t care who we play in the final, what I want is for us to be in the final. We have to concentrate on the Fenerbahce game, I think the most important thing is to take one game at a time.”
What do you plan to do if you win the title?
“I am very enthusiastic and unpredictable and it is very difficult even for me to think of what I could do! Every time I try to imagine I imagine something different! Because I can’t tell you what I’m going to do but I’m definitely going to do something crazy, you’ll miss me and you’ll have to find me somewhere in the crowd!
As I said when I came here the first thing I wanted was to see this stadium full again. I wanted to see the OAKA we used to see in the videos, when Panathinaikos was at the top of Europe. I think we achieved that, and it was what I wanted to do, of course I wanted to win games too because you need to do that to get people back on the pitch and now I want to make Berlin green!”
