Betting Ring: Ethics Commission Requests Case File to Impose Disciplinary Sanctions

Its president Ethics Committee of the EPO Charalambos Kotoulopoulos sent a letter to the sports and football prosecutor Kostas Spyropouloswith which he requests all the evidentiary material of the case file for the case of the Greek version of the international illegal betting ring.

“Trial in the Open” reveals that Mr. Kotoulopoulos shares his letter with Deputy Sports Minister Yannis Vroutsis, his deputy prosecutor Supreme Court Giorgos Oikonomou and to the head of the Athens District Attorney’s Office, Dimitris Eleftherianos.

In fact, he points out that he had sent a relevant document to Mr. Spyropoulos on July 26, 2023 and got the answer that the case file is at a very early stage procedural stage.

The appellant Charalambos Kotoulopoulos calls on the sports prosecutor of Athens, Kostas Spyropoulos, to inform him whether the criminal case file has been closed and, in the affirmative, to send him evidentiary material for involved officials of football teams participating in the championships of Athens Super League 1 and Super League 2.

At the same time, he requests that any evidence related to him be forwarded illegal betting and the race manipulation of the Greek professional football leagues, such as movements of betting and bank accounts, findings of electronic – digital files and transcribed conversations.
