Ares leveled Prometheus in an epic… Battle of the Titans!

The match

Derby was one of the first possessions of the match, with the two teams keeping pace with the score (16-16), until the 8th minute. However, in the last two minutes Aris tightened its defense and with Bohorides and Harel closed the first period at +5 (21-16).

The hosts were in control at the beginning of the second quarter as well, with De Souza and Toliopoulos sending them to +7 (28-21), at 13′. The answer of the Patrinas came from Etsenike and Cowan, bringing the match to the basket (30-28), but the “yellows” reacted and with Harel and Katsiveli took the reins again and went to the locker room with +8 (41-33) .

Explosive start and storming from Aris in the second half with protagonists Gallinat and De Souza, who pushed him to individual scores of 13-2, for +19 (54-35), in the first four minutes. Aris entered the fourth quarter very sluggishly, making easy mistakes, with Prometheus taking advantage of it and with forwards Hale and Hamilton making individual scores of 2-15 and reducing the difference (70-60), until the 35th minute. The “yellows” broke away with Stark’s shots, but with Cowan and Hale’s three-pointers, the Patrinos went on an 8-0 run and got even closer (72-68), in the 38th minute. With a three-pointer by Stark, the hosts got a new “breath”, but Hamilton brought the match to the basket (75-73), 42” before the end. Missed 3-pointers by Toliopoulos and Hale followed, with the former winning shots at 4.2”, making 1/2 from the line, but Hale hitting a buzzer beater from near center to send the game into overtime, setting up 76-76!

With De Souza as the protagonist, Aris escaped to +4 (82-78) at the beginning of the extra five minutes, with Promethea responding with a 5-0 run for the lead (82-83), in the 43rd minute. The Angolan center put the “yellows” in front again (85-83), with Karagiannidis equalizing (85-85), in the 44th minute. Toliopoulos then won an unsportsmanlike foul before the rebound by putting in the shot, then made it 2/2 on another foul called on him, sending the home team to +3 (88-85). Galinat’s steal on Hale followed, with Toliopoulos making a 1/2 from the line, for +4 (89-85), with 3.5” left, shaping the final score.
