He gave his account of PAOK’s progress in the season that just ended on the NovaSports channel show, “Monday FC” Demis Nikolaidis.
The veteran forward referred to the factors that in his opinion led the “two-headed team of the north” to winning the championship, while praising the mentality of the team as well as his Razvan Lucescu.
What he said in detail:
“What is most impressive about PAOK is the mentality and the strength that 4×4 had to do in the end. This is something that is rare and he did it. Other times, most of the time, being better than the opponent. In the last game he was also anxious, he was not so good against Aris, he made two shots and scored two goals. He didn’t care about being good, he cared about winning the championship. Winning a 4×4 derby is no accident.
It has to do with Lucescu. He’s a winner, he’s kept his team in the thick of things, he’s kept them at a level when others have had ups and downs and for me he deserves the biggest share. Of course he has players who helped him achieve this, he doesn’t play ball alone. Lucescu changed his tactics, he was giving the ball to the opponent, he wasn’t stuck on having to keep the ball and be patient, turn it around, like he did in previous years. He put it aside, he thought he could win the championship and he did. So he’s the protagonist.”
