In a unanimous decision this Thursday (24) by the General Assembly of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), Rogério Caboclo was removed from the presidency of the entity until the end of his term.
Formed by presidents of the 26 state federations plus the Federal District, the commission removed the top hat for another 20 months due to a complaint of moral harassment made by IT director Fernando França.
The punishment will be added to another, of 21 months, imposed on the leader after a complaint of moral and sexual harassment made by an employee of the entity. Added together, the two punishments exceed the end of Caboclo’s term, confirming the vacancy of the presidency.
An election will be called in the coming weeks to choose who will serve this period at the head of the confederation. One of those rated to assume the position is the interim president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, who is one of the eight vice-presidents of the CBF. He is in charge from August 2021.
Also on Thursday, however, the STJ (Superior Federal Court) determined an intervention in the CBF and that the oldest vice-president would temporarily assume the presidency until the new election. In this case, it would be Antonio Carlos Nunes, 83 years old. However, he is on sick leave.
Next, Antônio Aquino, 75, would be preferred, but he gave up the position. The next on the list would be Ednaldo, 68.
“Following the rites established in the entity’s statute, the acting president Ednaldo Rodrigues Gomes remains in the presidency, on an interim basis, in view of the impossibility and express manifestation of the other two older vice presidents, ratified by all the federations present”, says an excerpt from a statement from the CBF.
Caboclo had been removed by the entity’s Ethics Commission since June 6, after being accused by his secretary of moral and sexual harassment. The complaint was filed two days earlier.
On the same weekend of the removal, Fantástico, from TV Globo, showed a dialogue between the top hat and the employee, in which it is possible to hear him asking if she masturbated and had a romance with another colleague from CBF.
The complainant also said, in a report presented to the Ethics Commission, that the representative would have offered her a dog biscuit and called her a dog.
Caboclo says he has been the target of actions orchestrated by Marco Polo Del Nero, his predecessor, who left the CBF accused of corruption in the so-called Fifagate case. Caboclo’s defense denies that he committed moral and sexual harassment.
