The 37-year-old denies any illegality, claiming that the agreement (which was indeed made) was 100% legit. Nevertheless, the Catalan is normally in the group of people who are investigated in an official investigation by the Spanish police into the matter.
It is worth noting that this specific case began to be investigated in 2022 when some audios were released between Pique and the then president of the Spanish federation, Luis Rubiales(the one who resigned after the well-known affair with the kiss in Hermoso), but he also stated in his statements that the agreement was completely legal.
At the same time, the current president of the Spanish federation, Pedro Rochais also involved in the Saudi deal and is also being investigated.
