The countdown to the European elections has begun. According to a new poll, her air of victory Christian Union it reaches almost 15 points from the second party. Ten days remain until the European elections on May 9 and the sister parties of the Christian Union, the Christian Democrats and the Christian Socialists, reach 29 points, with a huge difference from the rest of the German parties.

They lead by almost 15 points from the second party, the Social Democrats (15%), who after some time manage to eliminate the Alternative for Germany from second place marginally to third place (14%), which loses one unit compared to the last poll.

The far-right Alternative for Germany has long been in the throes of revelations, scandals and major legal proceedings, which appear to have damaged the party’s momentum.

In third place we also find the Greens who “equal” with the Alternative for Germany, followed by the newly created Alliance of Sarah Wagenknecht with 6%, leaving behind the Liberals with 4% and lastly the Left with 3%, from which it came.

“Invincible” the Christian Union in the polls

The Christian Union is thus now cemented with an air of victory in first place, as in all polls for the German federal election, with the majority of respondents believing that a coalition government under its leadership could better resolve the German and also the international issues.

It is also interesting that 42% of respondents, regardless of party identity, believe that Ursula von der Leyen, from the Christian Democrats, deserves a second term at the head of the Commission.

According to the survey, the main issue that seems to concern citizens with the right to vote in these European elections is the assurance of peace and security in Europe at a turning point for the post-war order in the Old Continent. Social security and immigration issues follow, followed by environmental protection and tackling climate change.
