For the 15th time in its vast history and sixth in the last decade, the Real Madrid crowned European champions!
The Queen” Dortmund prevailed 2-0 in the Wembley final and won it Champions Leaguewith the great Toni Kroos to say goodbye to the “meringues” in the best possible way.
Superior in the first half, Borussia bowed in the second of their goals Carvajal and Viniciusin his… last dance Marco Royce with the yellow and black ones.
In the coach’s mind
Loyal to 4-2-3-1 The Edin Terzic, with Kobel under the posts and Rierson, Hummels, Sloterbeck and Maassen in defence. Can and Zabitcher found themselves on the axis, with Sancho, Brad and Antegemi behind Philkrug.
The Carlo Ancelotti chose 4-3-1-2, with Courtois taking Lunin’s place under the posts and Carvajal, Rudiger, Nacho and Mendy playing in defence. Valverde, Kamavinga and Kroos formed the trio in midfield, with Bellingham behind Vinicius and Rodrigo.
The match
The first notable phase was not competitive but about her fans invading the pitchwho luckily moved away quickly and the match continued as normal!
The Westphalians entered the match strongly and after a missed shot Valverde in the 12′, they threatened with Brad, who, however, did not finish the phase well from close range two minutes later.
His attempt was also misplaced Vinicius in the 15th minute, with the first very big chance being recorded in the 21st minute.
A terrible ball from Hummels brought out four four Backfillwho tried to avoid the keeper and ended up going too wide, resulting in a corner.
In the 23rd minute, Borussia came even closer to the goal, with the crossbar stopping his effort Philkrug – who of course may have been in an offside position.
Five minutes later the Backfill threatened again for the German club, with Courtois stopping his shot from a wide position and Philkrug then not being able to find the ball well with the head.
The first half continued in the same pattern, with Terzic’s men taking the lead and coming close to scoring on one more occasion when Real’s Belgian keeper stopped his effort as well. Zabitzer (41′).
The second part started with collected good moments for the “queen”, as the execution of his foul Cross neutralized by Kobel (49′), with Carvajal’s header seconds later going wide.
The Spanish full-back also threatened in the 57th minute, when he shot from inside the area but saw the opposing goalkeeper stop the ball after it collided with a defender.
The first good moment for the Westphalians came in the 63rd minute, when after a nice turn by Antegemi from the left, the Philkrug caught the powerful header but sent the ball over the Courtoiswhich he expelled.
In the 69th Bellingham missed the ball for millimeters after Vinicius’ sweet cross, however five minutes later o Carvajal did the right thing!
THE Cross took the corner from the left and the experienced full-back leapt higher than anyone else to head home and sending the ball into the net for Real 1-0.
2-0 seemed to be coming and indeed in the 83rd minute, after a tragic mistake in the opposing defense, the Vinicius defeated the formidable goalkeeper of Dortmund in four to four and finished the match, with Borussia having disallowed goal in the 87th minute with Philkrug and ultimately never manage to re-enter the match.
The final whistle found the Merengues celebrating and the Westphalians leaving Wembley idly, just like eleven years ago…
MVP: THE Dani Carvajal he had an excellent match and apart from his full-back duties, he was the one who paved the way for Real Madrid’s 15th Champions League with a terrific header! Well deserved MVP…
