The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported late Saturday night that a Palestinian teenager in the occupied West Bank was killed by Israeli forces, with the military confirming that it opened fire on two suspects.

15-year-old Ashraf Khmedat was killed in an Israeli raid in the refugee camp of Aqabat-Jaber, near Jericho, according to Wafa.

For its part, the Israeli military said the two suspects threw Molotov cocktails toward the neighboring Jewish settlement of Vered Jericho, endangering civilian lives as well as property.

“Soldiers responded within the area by firing live rounds in the direction of the suspects,” the military said.

The health condition of the second person has not been clarified, according to Wafa.

Since October 7, at least 520 Palestinians have been killed – including this teenager – in the occupied West Bank by Israeli soldiers or settlers, according to Palestinian authorities.

And at least 14 Israelis have been killed in attacks on that territory during the same period, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli figures.
