THE Milonas has indulged in a road race to see if he can qualify for the Stoiximan Basket League. If he does not succeed, however, he risks not even playing in the Elite League, as the deadline for submission of participation in the category expires on June 5, which caused the reaction of the team of Nea Smyrna with an announcement against the EEC.
Milo’s announcement in detail:
“The Board of Directors of our Association, in relation to what is reported these days on the various sites and social media, wants to inform its friends, the sports fans and everyone interested with the following.
On 31/5/24, (yesterday) the EEC informed us in writing, that the deadline for submitting declarations of participation in the….Elite League expires on 5/6/24 and let’s take it seriously!
This practically means that the decision on the division that our Association’s basketball team will play must be made by 5/6/24, that is, without the decision of our General Assembly provided for by law.
But let’s take things from the beginning.
After the completion of the Final Four, held on May 17-19, 2024, the following day, 20/5/2024, ESAKE sent us the Licensing Regulation, which has been drawn up in accordance with article 105 of Law 2725/1999 and has approved by the Deputy Minister of Sports, which includes the conditions and procedures for registering our association as a member, in order to take part in the 2024-2025 Basket League championship. In the same letter, he states that he expects from the EEC the notification of the validated ranking table Elite League Championship.
According to article 64 of Law 2725/1999 in conjunction with the above-mentioned Regulation of ESAKE, a condition for MILONA’s participation in the Basket League Championship is the establishment of a sports corporation (KAE), for which a decision of the General Assembly is required of the members of the union with an increased quorum of at least 2/3 of its members.
Before the announcement of the validation of the Elite League Rating, on May 23, 2024, our association convened a General Assembly with the sole subject of the Foundation of a Basketball Limited Company, which it set for June 7, 2024 at 8:00 p.m., and the repeat meeting on June 11, 2024 the same time.
Therefore our association, fully respecting the legality, is impossible to make a decision on the declaration of participation in the Elite League or the Basket League before the decision of the General Assembly on the establishment or not of KAE, that is until June 5th, which has been set as final date. The earliest he will be able to do so will be either 8/6/2024, if the General Assembly of the previous day has a quorum, or 12/6/2024, depending on the decision of the repeat General Assembly.
Following this, in accordance with the law but also with common sense, we declare in every direction that we will move in every legal way in order to correct the specific decision regarding the deadline for submission of declarations of participation in the Elite League 2024 – 2025, or to clarify that , especially for our union, the deadline is extended until June 12, 2024, for the objective reasons we described above».
