De Souza: “It’s frustrating to try to do my job and the referees won’t let me”

Silvio De Souza spoke about his unfair treatment by the referees, due to the many fouls he was charged, in the aftermath of his match Mars with Panathinaikos for the semi-finals of the playoffs.

“It’s frustrating trying to do my job and the refs not letting me…“, said the Angolan center, who had 12 points and 10 rebounds, to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency.

“I wanted to offer more to help my team claim qualification to the finals of the championship in a third match against Panathinaikos. What I did, as it turned out, was not enough to get us where we wanted to be. We have to accept the defeat, learn from it and use the knowledge gained for the next season. We played a strong game against a strong team. We gave everything we had to win. We wanted and succeeded in competing according to the “identity” of Mars, we lost to an excellent opponent“, added the 25-year-old ace.

Aris will now face Peristeri bwin away from home on Thursday in a “final” for third place. “We want third place. We will fight hard for the victory in the last game we have to play against Peristeri. We need to present ourselves on the pitch with energy, fighting spirit, elements that characterized us in most of our obligations this year, to win and achieve our goal”, pointed out Silvio De Souza.

Focusing on his season with Aris he said: “It was, in general, a good year. We had our ups and downs, in terms of results. It is important during a period to see your development, your competitive maturation. What will stay in my mind more strongly from the season are the fans of Ari. Their “hug”, the dynamic way they stood by us. The coach, also, the people of the team, who treated me wonderfully, the food, are beautiful memories that I will keep, overall, from my first year in Greece».

Finally, to a question about his competitive future (last summer he signed a one-year contract with Aris), he answered: “I’m not thinking about the new season yet. My work for this year is not finished. Right now, I want to stay committed to my commitment to my team. I’ll think ahead when the next competitive prospect comes up».
