The thriller of the last few months regarding his stay was put to an end by Sergio Conceição which, as ultimately expected, will constitute past from Porto.
The Portuguese coach announced his departure from the “dragons” through a note he sent to the press.

In a development that may even affect his future David Carmo to Olympiakos, given that the Piraeus – who apparently wish to keep the Portuguese stopper in their ranks – had taken advantage of the limited playing time that Conceição gave him, in order to acquire him on loan from Porto last January.
It is recalled that Conceição was at the “helm” of Porto from 2017leading his team to victory in this seven-year period eleven trophies (three championships, four Portuguese Cups, three Portuguese Super Cups and one Portuguese League Cup). Of course, she had worn her jersey in the past.
In detail, what Conceixão wrote in his note published in the Portuguese Media:
“Today I announced the termination of the contract I signed with Porto on April 25 of this year, under the conditions always announced. A period of 7 years and 11 titles, great sporting achievements.
The recent events, namely the breach of trust in a member of my technical team, the interference with its integrity and coherence without my knowledge, leave me exhausted and frustrated. I have always been guided by directness and loyalty.
I will soon go public and tell the truth of the facts, including the following points:
– The renewal of April 25, in which I pointed out the inclusion of the clause that allows me to leave Porto, at no cost to the club. This was the commitment I made with President Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa, but above all with the members of Porto.
– The renewal with the rest of the technical team, which has already been commented by them and which followed the common times of these procedures.
– The delay of this process, which ran into a reluctance to implement, which for years kept the club in the hegemony of Portuguese football, a reason of integrity and transparency legitimized by the members.
It was always the loyalty to this club that kept me here. It is because of this same loyalty to the people who have been with me here for more than 30 years and to the members of Porto that I am taking this step today.
It will not be the violation of values and betrayal by others that make me question my own values and my reason. As promised, I am leaving Porto with the same dignity with which I entered. It wasn’t the money I came here for and it’s not money I want to leave with.
I leave with a sense of duty fulfilled. There are 17 titles that I leave as a contribution, from the national youth championship in 1991/92, to the last Portuguese Cup.
I thank each and every one of our fans for the support I felt since I was 16 years old, when my father left me at the door of the Estadio das Antas.
I also thank my technical team, all the support staff at Olival and Dragao. To all the players who have allowed us to celebrate so many titles in these seven years.
And above all to my family, who helped me carry the burden of coaching Porto for the last 7 years.
