The big surprise regarding his position first coach are ready to do the Los Angeles Lakersby Jay Jay Reddick to be the favorite to take over. The 39-year-old has never coached a professional team, with his closest experience being in charge of some ‘Next Generation’ teams in some tournaments.
According to arguably the NBA’s best-known reporter, Shams HaraniaRedick is the early favorite to take over for the Lakers, with his name higher on the list than the far more experienced, James Borregowho was an assistant coach with the Suns, Pelicans, and Orlando Magic as well as the head coach of the Hornets for four seasons (18/19 through 21/22).
Redick, known for his shooting ability, of course had a long career in the NBA playing from 2006 to 2021, having played in 940 games. Since his retirement, we meet him as analyst at ESPN but also in his own podcast which he has in collaboration with his good friend, Lebron Jameswhich of course has a basketball theme and the NBA as a title “Mind the game”.
This isn’t the first time Reddick’s name has been floated for an NBA head coaching job as he recently had an interview with Michael Jordan’s Hornets to replace Steve Clifford, which never materialized.
The Los Angeles Lakers are zeroing in on JJ Redick as the frontrunner for the franchise’s next head coach, league and industry sources say.
