“If I score three goals, I will stay in Eindhoven”: Gakpo’s incredible revelation about the reason he did not get a transfer in 2022!

THE Cody Gakpo she has been competing for a year and a half in England with her jersey Liverpoolhowever he could have been transferred to the Premier League earlier.

In the summer of 2022 you see, he was linked to the Manchester Unitedwhile towards the end of the transfer period they had made a strong push for his acquisition Southampton and the Leeds.

However, the 25-year-old winger had made the decision to remain in Eindhoven for the simple reason that he had hat trick in a certain match against Volendam!

And we explain… As Gakpo revealed speaking to ESPN, he could not come to the right decision about his future, so he had left the situation to God.

In his own words, “In the end I left everything in God’s hands. If I scored one goal I’d go to Southampton, if I scored two I’d go to Leeds. If I scored three, I would stay at PSV.”

What was the outcome? The Dutchman to he does a hat trick (!) but not sure for quite some time exactly what would happen, as the one goal had been scored against a defender – and there was a chance it would be awarded by the league as an own goal.

“I was sitting on the bench with a close friend of mine, Jordan Tese. He told me that it is in God’s hands whether it will be an own goal or not. It ended up being credited as my goal, so it was a hat trick. I couldn’t have a clearer sign”he said.

After all, he would leave the Netherlands a few months later, on behalf of Liverpool…

He scored a hat-trick, stayed at PSV and moved to Liverpool 6 months later.
