Yes Manolo: Individual record with 5.87m. and silver medal at the European!

The mythical outdid himself Emmanuel Karalis!

THE dear Manolo of Greek athletics “flew” to 5.87 meters in his pole vault final, he set a personal record and won it silver medal at the European Championship in Rome! The Greek athlete from the start of his match at the “Olympic” seemed to be in terrible situation and he proved it: He passed 5.50m, 5.65m, 5.75m with the first, 5.82m with the second. and then he did the unbelievable!

Having this year’s best performance at 5.85m. from the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow, which also gave him the bronze medal, Karalis he exceeded 5.87 meters with his first attempt and celebrated, of course, as crazy! On the one hand, he “broke” his own record, the 5.86 meters from February 2023 at the SEF, and on the other hand, he embraced a medal at that point in the race.

A little later, he made sure of it! Turkey’s Sasma, Germany’s Zernigel (both bronze medalists) and France’s Collet failed at 5.85m. and Karalis secured the silver medal, since he and the undefeated Duplantis remained in the fight! From then on, things became very difficult for the Greek champion. Karalis tried to… dissolve everything, but he also dropped the bar at 5.92m. and at 5.97m. and at 6.02m. in his attempt to mess with the Swede, owner, we remind you, of the world record with 6.24m. So he finished his race with 5.87 meters, celebrating winning the silver medal, which is his first, in fact – at the age of 24 – at the level of open track! And the appetite for the Olympic Games has just been whetted…

As for Duplantis, he stayed – as has been the case in recent years – to fight alone to break his own world record! Just for fun, he passed 5.92m, 5.97m. and 6.10 m. and then placed the forearm straight to 6.25m.but he didn “t make it.
