The three medals and the account of the Greek mission at the European Championship in Rome

The European Open Athletics Championships which was held at the “Olympico” in Rome was completed ideally for the Greek mission, since the Emmanuel Karalis managed to win the silver medal in the pole vault final, reaching 5.87m and finishing behind only the unstoppable Dublandis!

This was the third “blue and white” medal in the event, with the beginning taking place last Saturday night (8/6), when Miltos Tedoglou “took off” at 8.56m. in the final of the long jump, setting a competition record and climbing to the highest step of the podium for the third time at Europeans!

Two days later, Katerina Stefanidis also had a tremendous race in the pole vault final, successfully jumping 4.73m. and winning the silver medal, climbing to the podium for the 5th consecutive European championship!

Elina Dzego finished 6th in the javelin final, Antigoni Drisbioti was 16th, Penny Tsinopoulou 19th and Kyriaki Filtisakou 22nd in the 20km final. First of all, Polyniki Emmanuilidou was 8th in the 200m final, Dafni Lavasa finished 24th in the 10,000m final, Kostas Stamoulis, Nikos Stamoulis and Marios Anagnostou finished 14th, 15th and 17th respectively in their 10,000m final, while the 4X100 team he was in the final taking 7th place.

Thus, Greece completed its presence in Rome 13th place in the overall medal tablewith host Italy on top with 24 medals, including 12 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze.
