Christian Palasios became a player of the Orestiada team on Thursday. The Acrites have announced the signing of the 31-year-old international Colombian centre-back for next year to strengthen in the center of attack and in the block.
In the season that ended, Palacios wore the jersey of the Lithuanian Amber Volley.
In detail, the announcement:
“The administration of TAA Athlos Orestiada announces the start of the collaboration with the Colombian athlete Cristian Palacios. The 31-year-old international ace will strengthen our squad ahead of the 2024-25 Men’s Volleyball League.
Our new acquisition with his impressive physical qualities, valuable experience from European championships and important competitions, as well as his excellent technique, is expected to offer, in addition to strength, an additional quality element in this year’s effort to distinguish the Sport.
Born on March 21, 1993 in the city of Quibdo, Colombia, the 2.04m center Cristian Palacios Santos, as his full name is, initially focused on basketball. However, his introduction to volleyball in the country’s second largest city, Medellin, “tied” him to the net ever since. For 11 years he played successfully in various Colombian clubs (Antioquia, El Nacional, Nacional Dupla), scoring important distinctions. His first foreign club was CV Universidad de San Martin de Lima in Peru, where in the 2014/15 season he won the championship.
The name of the Colombian blocker is known in European volleyball and not only since 2015 when he traveled to Spain for Cáceres, where he took third place in the Cup. Since then, he has had successful appearances in Turkey, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and last season in Lithuania with Amber Volley.
The career of Cristian Palasios, who nails at 3.65m and blocks at 3.45m, is not limited, however, only at the collective level. An international with the Colombian team for many years, he has competed in many competitions, including the South American Cup, the Pan American Cup and the Pan American Games, scoring important distinctions.
The new acquisition of Athlos, from his first official statements on athlosorestiadas.gr, set the bar high for this year and promised an impressive spectacle to the friends of the team. My participation in the Greek championship has always been one of my dreams! The league of your country has always given me the impression that it is a very strong and competitive one, with many and passionate friends who love volleyball. I am very happy that Athlos Orestiada gives me the opportunity to fulfill this wish.
The clear aim for this year would be to get into the league play-offs and the ‘4’ of the Cup, so we can show our strength as a new team. I hope that everyone at Athlos is happy about everything that is coming in the new season. For my part, I will give all my passion and love for this beautiful sport, in order to help my team and offer our fans a beautiful spectacle.’
The Athlos family welcomes Christian to Orestiada and wishes him a good season with health and many successes with our team”.
