“It is a young and European club. There are many possibilities. It is obvious that the chairman and the general manager intend to do something big with Monaco. As you can see, they’ve come a long way so far, reaching the Final Four last year. I know their main goal is to win the EuroLeague and I thought it was a good opportunity to try to do something special here.”

What can you tell us about your two seasons in Istanbul with Fenerbahce?

“I thought those two years were good. There were many ups and downs. The first year was difficult. We didn’t win a title, but we were very close to reaching the Final Four, winning the Turkish league, but we didn’t make it. The second year was much better. We won the Cup. We ended up in the EuroLeague Final Four, then won the Turkish league. And I thought it was great to finish on top like that at Fenerbahce.”

What are your memories of the Final Four?

“I remember it was a difficult match for us. We didn’t play our best basketball. Panathinaikos played better than us and we had a very bad second half, which hurt us a lot. At this level, such mistakes are punished.”

You will find Mike James. Can you tell us about your special relationship?

“Yes, I have a very good relationship with Mike since we played together in Panathinaikos. We always stayed in touch. We spent a vacation together. So I have a very good relationship with him and he was one of the main reasons I chose to come to Monaco, because I thought we could play well together again. It would be great to have the chance to win a title with him.”

Did you ever get to chat with Saša Obradović?

“I met him yesterday and obviously I have a lot of respect for him. He does a good job wherever he is, and the style of basketball he plays, I think, is my game.”

What is your goal in coming here to Monaco?

“My aim is to come in and try to help this team improve, get to the top level. Obviously we have a great opportunity and great expectations to win when you have this team. The main goal is to win as much as possible, and I believe it is possible.”
