Yiannis Karakostas comes from a basketball family, since his father, Fotis, is a coach and his brother, Nikos, a basketball player.
He was born on February 4, 2004, has a height of 1.90 and plays as a guard.
He started playing basketball at GAO Koukouvaunon. In the 2019-20 season, he competed with Panathinaikos, helping to win the Panhellenic Children’s Championship.
He was acquired by Lavrio on July 27, 2022 and, making use of the “double ticket”, he also competed in Papagos to gain time and experience. With the shirt of Lavrio, he recorded 3 participations in the Basket League in the 2022-23 season, with an individual performance of 5 points in 8 minutes of participation in the match against Kolossos (9/4/2023).
