A few days before this year’s NBA draft takes place (26-27/06), the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Chicago Bulls made an important, as well as… strange exchange of their stars Josh Giddy and Alex Caruso!
A move that at first glance seems to “drop” the Thunder, as they gave up the 21-year-old Australian talented guard who had a lot of potential in the magical world of the NBA, for the acquisition of the 30-year-old American guard of the “bulls”, who is nevertheless considered one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.
According to Oklahoma General Manager Sam Presti, the Thunder made the trade because he Guidi was not willing to start the new season coming from the benchas requested by the organization!
In fact, after said fruitless discussions between the two sides, the option of exchange fell on the table, with the young guard accepting her and eventually moving to Chicago and the Eastern Conference.
In the season that ended Guidi recorded 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game alongside Cy Gilgeous-Alexander.
OKC intended to have Josh Giddey come off the bench next season, but Giddey was not in favor of this role and preferred to be traded.
