AEK’s update

Touching moments unfolded today at the History Museum of AEK, with the visit of Nikos Christidis and the family of Mimi Papaioannou.

The relatives of the unforgettable Mimi were at OPAP ARENA, accompanied by the great goalkeeper of those years who had become the hero of AEK’s qualification to the second leg of the 1976-77 UEFA Cup quarter-finals, when our team eliminated Queens Park Rangers on penalties.

Papaioannou’s wife, children and grandchildren had the opportunity to remember many of his great moments with AEK, since the Museum is full of references to him, but also of heirlooms that his own family has provided. Of course, they did not fail to be photographed together next to the statue of the great leader.

Nikos Christidis had the opportunity to wear again the jersey he wore in the two years 1978-1980, which belongs to the Museum’s collection, and also to be photographed on the “plaque” dedicated to him on the walk of fame outside the AEK stadium .
