Statements after the “white” draw against Slovenia, thanks to which the national England secured the first place in the 3rd group and consequently the qualification to the “16” phase of Euro 2024, did the Gareth Shawgate.

The coach of the “three lions” emphasized that he understands some of the reactions that have been caused by his team’s performances, while stressing that his team must improve in view of the difficult continuation of the competition.

What the coach of the England national team said in detail:

“We improved when we had the ball and created some very good chances to score. But we continue to work hard, because we are not scoring as much as we would like. We had the discipline to not concede a goal which meant we would finish top of the group. I understand some of the reactions, but it’s a strange environment. We wanted to win the game. We can build on our appearance. With the changes we made, we were more dangerous, but we have to take advantage of the opportunities we create.

Now, we have to take one step at a time. We showed up improved, but we need to improve even more to get through to the next round. We took first place in the group and that was our initial goal. Whoever we face next, it will be very difficult. We must not get carried away by seeing which side of the brucket we are on”.
