Borovilos: “Asteras voted for Marinakis – It could be the other way around…”

by

“Asteras voted for Marinakis. It could also be the other way around, because he voted for Alafouzos against Marinakis. Now the elections are over. It doesn’t matter at all”…

With the above words, George Borovilos… explained the choice of Asteras Tripoli in yesterday’s Super League voting for the presidency of the League speaking in metropolis. The president of Asteras Tripolis referred to the need to have a better image of Greek football while also commenting on the imminent change in the way the playoffs will be conducted in the league.

What he said in detail

As for Asteras Tripoli voting for Marinakis against Alafouzos:

“Asteras voted for Marinakis. It could also be the other way around, because he voted for Alafouzos against Marinakis. Now the elections are over. It doesn’t matter at all. Each group democratically made its choice.

At some point we must see a better Greek football. Without a trace of underestimation, we see Georgia in the Euro and all the Balkans and not the National. We will have a new administration in EPO as well. We must have a better National Team, a better league and have better institutions. Did anyone ask how the league was at the bottom and not at the top? Away from the spotlight?

Whoever is relegated from the Super League goes into the abyss. There is no second national team. We have to build it, people get paid and it’s competitive. These are our issues, not who became president.”

For the format change in the Super League:

“I think it’s a format that improves competitiveness. Football is beautiful when it is played beautifully and competitively. Not wickedly. There should be motivation and competition and not races…soup. No one wants to see it that way. He wants to see games with motivation and not without interest. A way must be found so that there are no indifferent games.”
