by

The Argentine Nestor “Che” Garcia is on the Dominican Republic bench participating in the SEF Pre-Olympic Tournament. Speaking on the EEC website, he did not hide his admiration for the Greek fans who remind him quite a bit of his homeland. The interview in detail:

-Coaches, we would like a comment on the participation of the Dominican Republic in this Pre-Olympic Tournament.

“It is more than a goal. We dream like all other teams to qualify for the Olympic Games. Of course, we know very well that our mission is quite difficult, because this tournament has strong teams. Tough teams. Big names, like the Greek National Team, like Slovenia, Croatia with a long history in basketball, but we believe in ourselves and our potential.”

– Competitively what should you do?

“We will have to put everything on the floor. The defense, the heart, the soul. To play more than 100% of our potential. We know this tournament is pretty tough, but it’s short, so anything can happen. We should be focused. In this tournament you have to be focused. It is a given that everyone will fight for it, they will try, but the issue is the approach and the details.”

-In 2023, you left Argentina out of the World Cup. Are you ready for another breakthrough?

“God will decide on that.”

-On Wednesday you will face the Greek National Team. How do you have it in mind?

“One of my favorite things are the Greek sports fans. I really love them. They are very similar to my compatriots in Argentina. The way they support their team is fantastic. The Greek fans are incredible.”
