Stamatouros in the Spanish Ibiza, Angelakis in the Polish Bialystok

The new agreements of the Greek table tennis champions with foreign clubs concern three singles athletes. Giorgos Stamatouros, champion of the major event in 2021, will try a different experience abroad, competing in the 2024-2025 season in the Spanish League with Ibiza.

Konstantinos Angelakis, winner of the men’s singles in 2020, remains in the Polish Super division, but this year he will wear the Bialystok shirt. In addition, he renewed his collaboration with the Swedish Sparwagen.

Ioanna Gerasimatou, Greek women’s singles champion in 2023, will continue in Comfort, Bulgaria.

And in the latest agreements with European teams, it is clear again that the athletes of our national teams are looking to maintain the right to play in the Greek league at the same time.

Last year, Stamatouros had a small presence in the Polish Gdansk. The year before, he competed in Denmark with B75, while still a teenager he had started his international career in France and managed to create a long tenure there. Spain becomes his new station, with Ibiza he will test his strength in another A’ class championship.

Angelakis, alongside Greece, last season played a sufficient number of games in Poland with Olympia Grudiaz and in Sweden with Sparvagen. Yesterday he announced that in the coming period he will continue in the same countries. Simply, in Poland SBR Dojlidy Bialystok will be his fourth team in recent years in the League (after Olympia, Yaroslavl and Zamos), while in Sweden he will once again strengthen the club, with which he reached the playoffs this year of the top four.

Gerasimatou recently celebrated the second consecutive Bulgarian championship with Komfort and signed a contract with the team for a third year. Always at the same time as the Greek A1, he also moved to other parts of the Balkans last season, playing for a while in Kosovo, and it is possible that he will add a similar deal along the way.
