Toliopoulos: “I’m living a dream year, I don’t want it to end with nothing”

Happy for what he is experiencing throughout this season, culminating in his first summer with the National team that was combined with qualifying for the Olympic Games, says Vassilis Toliopoulos on the EEC website.

“It’s been a really dream year for me, I don’t want what I’m living to end. I can’t wait to go to the Olympics, I’m very happy for the role I have in the team and I hope we can do something good in the event“, the international guard initially said.

Regarding whether he realizes the magnitude of this success, Toliopoulos replied that “it is, without a doubt, the greatest moment I have experienced in my career. I dreamed about it, I never expected that I would reach this point, and of course it is very difficult to express your feelings, as strong as they are. All I can say is, that these feelings from what you experience in such moments, you will remember them for a lifetime».

As for the figures that brought us to the Olympics, 16 years after our last appearance? “I think that especially in homogeneity we got excellent. We had a great relationship with each other which helped us to do a great job in defense and attack to take this qualification comfortably in the end».

The “blue and white” managed to reach her goal, after a preparation of a few days, where she managed to present an image, which offered her the possibility of the big qualification. The international guard explains, regarding this: “I think that because we all know each other very well, having played as teammates or as opponents, in clubs or even in the small Nationals, we also know very well how everyone competes on the floor. Everyone’s characters are excellent, racing-wise we have very good material and that’s why we got to this point».

So how far does the dream go? “My dream, initially, was to get to play in the Olympics. A medal, of course, would not leave me… indifferent».
