Significant reinforcement under the rafters for her men’s handball team AEK.

The Union announced today (13/7) its acquisition Jan Zendi. The 32-year-old French goalkeeper has produced performances at the highest level, having played in the Champions League with the Paris Saint Germainwith which he celebrated two doubles, while he was a member of the “tricolor” team that won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

The announcement in detail:

“THE AEK is pleased to announce the start of its collaboration with Jan Zendi. The French goalkeeper, born on December 26, 1981, will strengthen the Men’s Handball section of AEK in the new season.

Jan is one of the biggest names that has come to our country. This is the international French goalkeeper, who has won the gold medal in Olympic Games of Tokyo in 2021, while participating with France in the 2020 European Championship and Worldwide of the following year. He started his career from Billere Handball and in 2008 he transferred to Aurillac HB CA. After two years he went to Istres PH and in 2012 he moved to Cesson Rennes MHB.

From 2014 to 2020 he competed in Chambery SMBH, with which he won the French Cup in 2019, before moving to Paris Saint-Germain, where he was the main goalkeeper, with appearances in Champions League, while in 2021 and 2022 he won two consecutive Doubles with his team. In the 2022/23 season he played in Limoges Handball, while the previous year he was in Saran Loiret Handball.

It is worth noting that the 2015 and 2019 voted as the best goalkeeper of the French league!
