Giannakopoulos replied: “The limit has long been lost, I am sure that political leadership and institutions will intervene emphatically”

With his official statement, o Dimitris Giannakopoulos took position for what was reported yesterday by Angelopoulos brothers on the sidelines of Sasha Vezenkov’s presentation.

With Dimitris Giannakopoulos going into the… counterattack, calling it political leadership and the institutions to intervene in all of this.

His official statement in detail:

“Yesterday’s disappointing official statements by KAE Olympiacos surprised many, but mainly confirmed what everyone has now well understood. It is very easy to attack someone who is impossible for you to reach and very convenient to find dozens of excuses to cover your weakness.

Personally, I have learned and walked for so many years with this certainty despite the constant surprise caused to me by the complete lack of self-criticism that leads to certain and now proven stagnation and decline.

It would be something extremely simple for me to fuel the discussion about the inconceivable debts of the long-suffering Halyvourgiki with the millions of past debts to Banks and PPC, the unemployment of hundreds of workers, the enormous effects on the society of Elefsina and not only that.

I could position myself as a Greek citizen about how absurd it is to be given 500,000 euros by public television for the television rights of an A2 category team.

I could refer for hours to my dozens of efforts, both verbal and written (the partners of KAE Olympiacos themselves are irrefutable witnesses), my public statements, my fervent handshakes, my actions against violence, so that a reconciliation can occur in the framework the improvement not only of the sport, but also in general.

It would be extremely simple for me to list all the times I stated that healthy sport needs competition, Olympiacos has the right to have its own stadium, just like us who have undertaken to maintain and renovate a venue by investing millions of euros in it, so that it becomes reference point for all. The chaotic disparity between both operating and rental costs over these decades could have been flagged by me in an effort to constantly whine and frustrate, but instead I chose to accept a huge challenge rather than deny it, because -among other things- it doesn’t have enough cafes to exploit (!).

I consciously chose not to file complaints, lawsuits, lawsuits and appeals to every challenge and defamation, not accepting that the official level of dialogue between businessmen representing basketball is “valet-handling”, illegal disclosure of personal data and other shameful designations used by hooligans and not teams, the embarrassing references to how bad I am doing to the sport, when the whole world is seeing the heights that are reached in basketball thanks to my own actions and especially these morbid fantasies about shadow people beside and behind me – they should know well by now that I act alone and always in the light.

However, everything has a limit and that limit has long since passed. They are particularly strong, as they pointed out very characteristically and with a special style there at KAE Olympiacos (to me, all this personal obsession and targeting only show me weakness), but I have blind trust in the Greek Justice, an institution that was created, in order not to he judges by strength. But to judge based on the Law. And this is what I will inevitably do from now on.

Finally, in absolute connection with the previous one, the shocking from yesterday’s official position of KAE Olympiacos which I will indeed focus on and highlight in every legal way is the most important for the very existence of our State. It is unacceptable to call illegal a concession passed by the Greek Parliament beneficial to the public interest by law, to stigmatize the Prime Minister, the Ministers, the Members of Parliament in an unprecedented way and to ridicule the entire parliamentary process in this way, while at the same time openly and with an emphasis on “you know we are strong in some things” to blackmail and pressure the political system and its leadership!

I am sure that both our political leadership and our institutions will intervene emphatically and give appropriate answers to such positions.

The strong man loses his power at the very moment when he needs to publicly invoke it. I am always – both due to upbringing and due to worldview – with the weak of this world.
