Prentiss was born on March 19, 1999 in Maryland, United States of America, specifically in Prince George County, from where he left at a young age to take his first basketball steps at Gonzaga College High School, in Washington. In his first year, he averaged 13.8 points and 4.5 assists per game and was named a Top Five player of the year.
In college he played with Notre Dame and in four seasons and a total of 126 games, his numbers were outstanding. Specifically, the 25-year-old ace, in 34.7 minutes of participation, averaged 10.7 points, 3 rebounds and 4.6 assists.
