The Junior National Team made it to the quarterfinals of the U18 EuroBasket

In the quarter-final phase of the U18 B’ Category European Championship, the Junior National Teamwhich beat Ireland 62-45 in Ploiesti in the last match of the A’ phase of the competition and won the second place in the A’ group.

A decisive role in the victory of the Greek team was played by its performance in defense in the second period, where it had previously balanced the game and covered the difference of 9 points with which it was behind in the score (13-4, 6′) tying the score at 14-14 , at 11; “turned” the game in her favor and took the lead for the first time (14-19).

From that point on, the Junior National Team did not leave any room for its opponent to “threaten” it, and with the defense as a weapon as well as the individual score of 3-10 that it made in the first minutes of the second period, escaped even more (17 -29, 14′) essentially laying the foundations for victory.

In the 27th minute, Greece took the lead with 18 points (30-48), with the difference remaining in double digits in the last period (40-59, 36′), leading the representative group to victory-qualification to the “eight” of the European Championship.

The National team, in the first match of the “knock-out” phase, which will take place on Friday (9/8), will face the first team of Group B, whose matches will be completed in the evening.
