Activate the transcriptional “bomb” with Gergo Zalanki Olympiacos!
The “red and white” polo team announced the acquisition of the 29-year-old left-handed Hungarian international, adding one of the world’s best polo players to its “rich” roster!
Zalanki started his career in Eger, then played in Uybúda, Szolnok and Ferencvaros, while from 2021 to 2023 he was a player of Pro Reko.

The Hungarian international left-handed winger (born 26/2/1995, 1.92m) has signed his new contract and joins the roster of the club’s Men’s polo team. The great Gergo Zalanki moves to the Legend as one of the world’s leading pole vaulters, at the age of 29 and in the best phase of his career! In 2023, he was named the best pole player worldwide, but also in Europe, as well as the MVP of the LEN Champions League!
He is one of the biggest names in world water polo, with a “golden” resume and a huge career, full of titles and individual awards. Basic member of the Hungarian National Team, with which he has won five medals in the top competitions, the last of which was gold at the Fukuoka World Championships in 2023.
In 2020, he was crowned European champion with Hungary, while counting two silver medals, at the 2017 World Championships and the 2022 European Championships, as well as a bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, he won the fourth position.
From 2021, Gergo Zalanki competed in Pro Reco, with which he won two consecutive LEN Champions Leagues (2021-22, 2022-23), three LEN Super Cup streaks (2021, 2022, 2023), three Italian championships and two Cups !
He started his career at Eger, where he played until 2016. He won a Hungarian championship and a Cup, while with Zolnok, in the two years 2017-19, he won a championship and a Super Cup. He then played for Ferencvaros, with whom he reached the final of the LEN Champions League in 2021, while winning a LEN Super Cup (2019) and two Hungarian Cups. In the 2016-17 season, he wore the cap of fellow Hungarian OSC-Ujbuda.
