In the “soft” category, Yannick Siner was dropped from ATP and ITF. The Italian tennis player, No. 1 in the world, tested positive for a banned substance last March after winning Indian Wells. Thus, he was stripped of his title and at the same time obliged to return the amount of money he won.
However, ITIA announced that the substance was found in Siner’s body without his responsibility. The finding that acquitted the Italian star states that the substance harmed the athlete’s body after his physiotherapist used a spray on the hand injury and after massaging it without the use of a glove.
The 23-year-old did not participate in the Paris Olympics due to tonsillitis.
“We are encouraged by the fact that no fault or negligence on the part of Yannick Siner was found. We would also like to acknowledge the robustness of the investigation process and independent assessment of the facts by the Tennis Anti-Doping Program (TADP), which allowed him to continue to compete.
