PAE AEK: “Never again be an occasion for punishment”

In the premiere match against OFI, the OPAP Arena was empty due to suspension. Cause, a firecracker that fell into the stands in the last match of the previous season, against Lamia. Fields are constantly being closed for throwing a single object, a flare, a firecracker, a smoke generator.

The much tightened penalty framework from the middle of last season is well known. We remind you that now based on this the punishments are administrative and direct. However, we must emphasize that the disciplinary code of the EPO has become stricter and its provisions are similar to those enacted by the State since last year.

Reality is harsh. We already have another Super League team’s home ground banned for a chair that fell in front of the stand. The same penalty would exist even if we were talking about a bottle or maybe a lighter. So none of us has the right to ignore this reality. Any frivolity, any carelessness, will lead to the closure of the field. And very likely to force AEK to play difficult matches at home, even derbies, without your help.

There is no room for misinterpretation. The only option is to never give cause for punishment again. This means that in OPAP Arena we should never see throwing an object, throwing a smoke generator, flare, sparkler. Any such action is reason for our opponents to celebrate and for us to idly watch our team struggle alone.
