AEK faces Lamia (24/8, 21:30, COSMOTE SPORT 1HD, sport-fm.gr, News Bulletin 247) for its 2nd matchday Stoiximan Super League.
THE Moses Odubajospeaking to COSMOTE TV, referred to the reasons he really wanted to transfer to the Union, but also to his great desire to compete in a full Opap Arena.
In detail what he said:
For the victory against OFI.
First, it was an important victory. We knew as a team we were disappointed from last week, which I don’t need to go into detail about. And our main concern was to start the league well and that’s what we did.
For the team’s reaction after the European exclusion.
I’ve been here about a month and I’m already seeing this. In the last two years I played against Matias Almeida’s team and I could see that there are strong features here. Hopefully this will be the year we win.
For the tension in AEK’s game, even if they aspire to have a longer duration.
Yes of course. We have new players, people trying to adapt and understand the coach’s tactics. It’s a process, you know. The league is not one or two games, the season ends in eight to nine months. So we have to enjoy the journey, get even closer as a team and work hard every day. The rest will come.
For what AEK should do in order to win against Lamia.
I think we should continue to do the same things we did in the last game. To play with intensity and when we do that in formation, we will have a scary team. So we hope to repeat last Sunday’s performance.
For the story of his transfer to AEK.
Yes, it came as a complete surprise to me. Last season I may have played against AEK, but I didn’t talk to the coach. Every time I’m on the pitch I give it my all. And when the season ended, my agent came and told me that there was a possibility that AEK would be interested in you. And I was surprised! And as the summer went on, it became more concrete that the coach wanted me on the team, wanted me to help.
And when it became specific, I put all my effort to come, I really wanted to come here. Being in a bigger team, someone can argue, but for me it’s a bigger team. One of the largest in Greece. I left England to win something, to compete for titles, to be in a competitive team. And I felt that this is the best place for me to achieve those goals. And now it’s up to me to repay the coach for the faith he showed in me to bring me here.
For the fact that he made his debut with OFI in front of empty stands, but if he is selected against Lamia, either as a starter or as a substitute, he will play in front of a crowd at the OPAP Arena.
The atmosphere of the stadium is very nice. When I played in this stadium last year, the season the team won the double, the atmosphere was… scary for every opponent that came here. And last year, it was something similar. I was in the stands at the last European game, when we tried to go all in. I can’t wait to play in front of them, this time in the home shirt.
