Globo has formally submitted a proposal to FIFA (International Football Federation) to acquire the broadcasting rights for the new Club World Cup organized by the entity, scheduled for June 2025.

The bid was made official on August 20, the deadline imposed by FIFA for the competition to sell matches to media groups throughout Latin America. The proposal is not along the same lines as the one made for the 2026 World Cup, in which the broadcaster will broadcast only half of the matches.

Talks are ongoing and, behind the scenes, the channel is optimistic. FIFA has not set a deadline for giving a final response. Contacted by F5Globo chose not to comment on the matter.

Of the 32 participants in the Club World Cup, 30 have already been defined. Now, the two remaining spots are those of the 2024 Libertadores champion and the representative of the host country. In this case, the United States.

If a team that has already qualified is the Libertadores champion, the last spot will be defined by the Conmebol ranking. At this moment, Olimpia, from Paraguay, would be the heir to the position.

The 2025 Club World Cup is scheduled to take place between June 15 and July 13, 2025. The 32 teams will be divided into eight groups, with the top two from each advancing to the round of 16 for a single-match knockout stage.

Among the teams already confirmed are Flamengo, Palmeiras and Fluminense as Brazilian representatives. European football giants such as Real Madrid, Chelsea, Atlético de Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain will also participate in the competition.
