The epilogue to a remarkable career was decided to be written by Vangelis Margaritis. At 41, the experienced forward is retiring from basketball after 24 years, most of which he spent in PAOKwhere he was leader for a number of years. Apart from Dikephalos, Margaritis wore the shirt of Herakles, Ionikos, EA Patras, Kerainos Aegios, Peristeri, KAOD, Ikaros Serres and Kolossos Rhodes.
Margaritis waited until 29-30 to be recognized at the highest level, through PAOK and Soulis Markopoulos. In fact, he even managed to reach her National teamwhich he served in the “windows” having 17 appearances (from 2017 to 2021) and 134 points.

Vangelis Margaritis made the big decision. He is stepping down from active duty and formalizing this decision with the following statement…
“After 24 years of career on the dance floor, it’s time for this chapter to close for me.
It was a journey full of beautiful but also difficult moments, all important, as through them I matured and became the person I am today.
I want to thank all the teams I played for and especially PAOK, where I spent most of the years of this unique journey.
I want to thank all the coaches with whom I worked from the beginning of my career and all the teammates, who together we fought but also shared successes, failures, anxieties, injuries, dreams and many beautiful moments on and off the field. Over the years I have met wonderful people and made friends for life.
A thank you to the fans all over Greece for the way they expressed their feelings towards me. The appreciation is mutual.
But especially I would like to express a big thank you to my mother and brothers, who made so many sacrifices for me to be able to follow this path.
I also want to thank my manager Mina Toukmenidis, with whom from my first to my last professional contract we walked together and developed a real friendship.
Finally, I want to say a big thank you to my wife Vasiliki, who followed me in whatever team I went to, supported me in whatever decision I made and was by my side in every difficult moment I went through. And of course he gave me the best moment of our life, our son, for whom I have been playing for the last few years.
