Jovanovic: “I will do everything to help the children – I am proud to be in the Greek National Team”

Satisfied with elements of the National team’s game, but mainly with the result was Ivan Jovanovich after a 3-0 win over Finland in its opener Nations League.

The 64-year-old coach spoke about the management of the game after the 1-0, talked about the plan he has for the National team, praised the footballers of our representative group, while also referring to the fact that he sang our National Anthem.

His statements to Nova’s camera in detail:

“Because it is the first game of a national team, I wanted it to start with a win for many reasons and that was the point. We started an event with a win as I wanted.

Basically our entry into the game, especially without the ball, was not what we wanted. Finland is calm with the ball, knows how to play with it and create spaces. On the contrary, without the ball we did not play as we wanted. Fotis’ goal helped us not to be so anxious and it didn’t change our game without the ball, but we managed comfortably.

I saw in the ball game what I wanted in the replay. We have to fix a lot of things during the matches, but I saw the guys trying hard. My plan had a lot of information that was not easy and does not give many freedoms, but what counts is the result. We saw how we can play, we have talent and children who can carry the burden of the national team.

We have talented and young kids as well as experienced ones. Results are what we want. We represent a country. We have to present something good, but I am happy because despite suffering, we are learning. Until recently I worked in a team where I had more time, but the victory gives us time to work in peace.

It makes sense to sing the National Anthem. I’ve been here for so many years, my children were born here, if I didn’t know him it would be absurd. I’m proud to be here and I’ll do everything to help the kids.”
