The Inter Miami of Messi and Suarez may be hungry for the first championship in their history, but for now, the Columbus Crew retains, for the time being, the scepters at MLS – having also won the Leagues Cup a few weeks ago.
In the early hours of Sunday (08/09) however, Wilfried Nancy’s team suffered humiliating, at home, 4-0, by the Seattle Soundersin a match that turned into a parody!
And that’s because due to the match being held alongside the national team’s playing obligations, Crew only had one goalkeeper available – who was expelled just before half time!
Somehow, midfielder Zawadzki took on goalkeeping duties, conceding a goal from the oncoming free-kick, only to see his own net fouled, naturally, three more times afterwards…
Playing during an international break, the Columbus Crew had only one active goalkeeper on the roster as Schulte and Hagen were on international duty.
That one GK got sent off. Sean Zawadzki is in goal now. pic.twitter.com/QhnQRMabZJ
