Her national team is now in the process of searching for a new coach Serbiaas the Svetislav Pesic announced that he is leaving the technical leadership of “plavi”!
Granting a long interview to the Serbian “politika”, the 75-year-old coach, who a few weeks ago led Serbia to the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, announced his decision to leave the country’s representative group.
It is recalled that his contract was completed in 2025, with the aim, of course, of leading the national team to the Eurobasket which will be held in Cyprus, Finland, Latvia and Poland.
As Pesic himself mentioned, his decision has of course also to do with changes made in the Serbian federation and with the resignation of the previous president, Predrag Danilovic.
“The president of KSS, Predrag Danilovic, has resigned. As I understand it, he did it so that the new leadership of the federation could form a new coaching staff and goals at the beginning of the new Olympic cycle.
As for me personally, before Paris I announced that someone else had to continue what I started. Since I see that some people didn’t hear me well, I now tell them that those in charge – those who will lead the federation in the future – know that, among other things, they must also look for a new coach.
Of course I will always be available for Serbian basketball, but I will turn to some other goals and projects that I didn’t have time for because I was at the service of the Serbian national team 24 hours a day,” he said characteristically.
For the record, Svetislav Pesic was at the “helm” of Serbia from 2021.
