Pander: “The goal is none other than winning the Euroleague”

by

OR Barcelona made a great move this summer by bringing him Kevin Pander in Barcelona.

With this transfer, the “Blaugrana” significantly strengthened their roster and the American, in statements he gave to the team’s official channel, spoke about his main goal this year, which is none other than the conquest of Euroleague.

What Kevin Pander said in detail:

“It was a decision I made after having the opportunity to come here and be part of the team. For me it’s an easy transition because I’ve played against all my teammates as an opponent. Like with Sato (s.s. Satoransky) who had to mark me. He was so annoying when he did it (ss laughs). So we’ve had a really good relationship since the first time I came in, since they marked each other.

The same applies to Lapro (s.s. Laprovitola). I had to tag him too. So just from that, we had something to talk about when I came. I understood them, and they understood me.

Even Jan (sr. Vesely) who had played for Obradovic, and I had played for Obradovic, so we had a kind of connection, because every time he played a pick-and-roll, he marked me.

So I have a familiarity with all the guys because I’ve played against them so many times so when I came here it was easy to talk and develop our relationships, so now that we’re teammates it’s just a matter of putting the pieces together and finding our game.” .

-What was your dream? “When I was younger, my dream was to play in the NBA. Growing up and playing in the United States, that’s all you know, that’s all you talk about, and that’s all you watch. But is it still my dream? To be honest I don’t know, as you grow up some things change and you realize some things that have nothing to do with basketball. So the dreams you have as a child, I don’t know if they change, but they become less important.”

For Barcelona’s goals this year: “First of all to win titles here. To win the EuroLeague, lift the ACB and get as many titles as possible. This is the main goal. wherever I’ve played, I’ve had – mostly – success and I want to continue that, just as I want to continue to improve as a person and as a player every day. That’s the most important thing for me.”

On how hard a gamer’s life is: “Everything in life is difficult. So basketball is hard, just like being here. Waking up every day and having to take care of your family is hard, even if you don’t play basketball. That’s life, that’s why you have to have the right mindset and the right approach and you’ll succeed.”

On what he likes to do on the field: “I do whatever it takes, when I was younger it was only a ‘2’ but as I got older I learned to play as a ‘1’ so at this point in my career I can do both. I can both score and create, so that’s the best part of me growing and maturing.”
