Postecoglou: “Only small teams pick games, I want more than a win in a derby”

Tottenham and Arsenal face off on Sunday afternoon (14/9, 16:00) in the great London derby for the 4th matchday of this year’s Premier League, with the coach of the former, Angelos Postecoglouto make statements ahead of the big match.

The Greek-Australian coach emphasized that everyone in his team knows very well the importance of this specific derby, but made it clear that the big teams do not choose games, looking for victory every time they step on the pitch.

“Teams that win trophies want to win all the time, they don’t pick games. Only small teams do this, who have no hope of reaching the top of any competition and only hope to get some big wins against big opponents. This was also happening in the Australian national team in which I was a coach. The aim was to get some big wins as we knew we couldn’t win the world cup. Winners want to win every game and that’s my mentality.”he initially stated, adding that he wants more than just a derby win.

“Everyone in the team understands the importance of the derby with Arsenal, but I want to win every match we play, that’s the only way we can be really successful. With a derby win everyone gets excited and feels great, but I want more”.
