The 143rd session of the IOC is scheduled to be held in Pylos, 18-21 March 2025. During it, the elections for the election of the new president of the International Olympic Committee and the succession of Thomas Bach will also be held.
The IOC announced the names of the seven candidates who meet the criteria set by the Ethics Committee. These include four sitting presidents of world federations, the vice-president of the IOC, the brother of the king of Jordan and Zimbabwe’s sports minister, a former Olympic swimmer.

– Faisal Al Hussein (Jordan) 61 years old – Prince of Jordan, IOC member since 2010
– Kirsty Coventry (Zimbabwe) 41 years old – “Gold” Olympic swimming champion, Zimbabwean sports minister, IOC member since 2013
– Johan Elias (Sweden / Great Britain) 62 years old – president of the World Ski Federation, member of the IOC from 2024
– David Lapartier (France) 51 years old – president of the World Cycling Federation, member of the IOC from 2022
– Juan Antonio Samaranc Jr. (Spain) 65 years old – IOC vice-president, member since 2001
– Morinari Watanabe (Japan) 66 years old – president of the World Gymnastics Federation, member since 2018
