The new era begins: Premiere in the League Phase of the renewed Champions League with Milan-Liverpool

Tonight is historic as the new era of UEFA competitions begins in the format League Phase and the Champions League opens the way. Forget groups, as now the 36 groups participate in a single score and they give eight games (instead of six) against equal numbers different opponents (and not three home and three away, with two games per opponent).

The newly created League Phase will last until January 29 and from uniform score of the teamsthose who finish in the top eight places go directly to the ’16’, the teams from 9th to 24th place will play double-headers to qualify for the ’16’, while those who finish from 25th to 36th place have a farewell to Europe, as now there is no transfer of teams to the Europa League.

The matches of the first matchday extend over the current three-day period, with six matches from Tuesday to Thursday. Tonight all eyes are on the Milan-Liverpool (22:00)while title holder Real hosts Stuttgart (10:00 p.m.). On Wednesday, Manchester City-Inter (22:00) dominates, while on Thursday, Atalanta-Arsenal and Atletico Madrid-Leipzig (22:00).
