Santos seeks rare away victory to stray from the relegation zone

Santos wants to try to break away from the fight against relegation once and for all. This Saturday (13), at 17h, the team from Alvinegra will face Atlético-GO, away from home, for the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship. SportTV broadcasts the confrontation.

Currently with 38 points, Santos is in 13th position at Nacional, five points ahead of Juventude, the first in the relegation zone for Serie B.

If Atlético-GO wins, it automatically surpasses Santos in the table. The team from Santos could fall even more if São Paulo (which plays against Flamengo, this Sunday) gets at least one point.

In addition to the complicated situation on the table, Santos has a poor performance when playing away from their stadium.

In 15 duels at Brasileliro so far, there were only two wins, against Athletico (1-0) and Chapecoense (also 1-0), six draws and seven defeats.

On the other hand, the team from Alvinegra is coming off a victory, against Red Bull Bragantino, by 2-0, in Vila Belmiro.

Atlético-GO is coming from three straight defeats: 4-0 against Palmeiras, 2-0 against Flamengo and another 2-0 against Sport.

The team from Santos is on the rise in the championship, after flirting with the relegation zone at the beginning of the second round.

The team managed to win nine of the last 12 points played at the Brazilian Nationals, adding triumphs against Fluminense, Athletico and Bragantino.

In the last four games, they only lost the derby against Palmeiras, 2-0. In fact, they were the only goals conceded by the team in that sequence. Up front, the attack shook the net five times.

The recovery in the table has been based mainly on the team’s performance at home (seven wins, five draws and four defeats) and coincides with the fans’ return to Vila Belmiro.
