by

In a match that suffered in the first half from heavy rain, PAOK prevailed 2-0 over Lamia away from home and ideally closed the regular season of Super League 1.

Michailidis and Zampa scored for Thessaloniki, who are now twelve points away from the top, after defeat of Olympiacos by Aris.

Now the Cup winners are turning their eyes to Ghentwhile Lamia remains in a difficult position and enters the playouts at -5 from Atromitos.

In the mind of the coach

With 4-3-3 lined up Lamia Gianluca Festa, having Garavelis at home and Provydakis, Antezzo, Loukas and Saramantas in defense. Beharano-Nounies were selected on the axis, with Tirone in front of them and their attacking trio of Eleftheriadis, Manousos and Karamanos.

Ο δε Razvan Lucescu chose 4-2-3-1, with Paschalakis unshakable under the beams and Sastre, Ingason, Michaelides and Siddklay. On the axis, Sfab and Filipe played, with El Kaddouri, Murg and Zampa at the ends in front of Zolak.

The match

The rain that intensified as time passed made the efforts of the players of both teams difficult, with the phases being few in the first half.

A shot by Filipe in the 19th minute went out without stressing Paschalakis, while in the 35th minute Zampa scored after a corner, but his goal was canceled because the ball had gone out in the execution.

Two minutes later, however, the Brazilian scored again and the goal counted normally. Swab found him on the left and the PAOK winger entered the area shooting exemplary for 1-0.

A foul by Provydakis in the 40th minute went out without worrying Paschalakis, with El Kantouri’s misplaced header in the 45th minute being the last notable moment of the first half.

The second half started under better conditions, as the rain stopped, with the Thessalonians finding nets again, this time with Michailidis (52 ‘). The Greek defender caught the nailed head after a foul by Murg and doubled his team’s goals.

After the 2-0, the stadium … went down for a few minutes towards Lamia, with Zampa (55 ‘, 61’) and Murg (57 ‘) wasting some important opportunities for goals.

The answer from the hosts came in 67 ‘, when Eleftheriadis saw his head stop on Paschalakis’ right crossbar from an advantageous position.

The hosts looked for a goal that would put them back in the match and asked for a penalty for Kurtic’s hand in 77 ‘, but without giving anything. An Akpom heel in the 87th minute stopped Garavelis, with Bangoura missing a minute later.

MVP: THE Leo Zampa scored two goals (of which he scored only one) and his speed helped the heavy pitch. Permanent source of danger for the hearth of Lamia, it deserves the title of the most valuable.

The … whistle: With the exception of some difficulties in intercommunication (!) In the first part, no other problem was encountered by Tasos Papapetrou. In the phase when Lamia asked for a penalty in the second half, he considered that there was nothing and the VAR agreed with him.
