A reading in his autobiographical book Andy van der Meide will let everyone know why the once-promising Dutch winger never made the career he could have based on his talent. He reveals them debauchery which he did during the time he was competing in Everton (2005-2009), with which he made just four appearances.
“I was doing cocaine, drinking alcohol and partying seven days a week. I couldn’t concentrate on football or anything else. My life was a party. Liverpool is a dangerous city if you don’t know how to control yourself. I realized that Liverpool were going to kill me, I had to leave“, says the now 45-year-old in his book entitled “The Next Next Big Thing”.
In fact, he recounts one of the many incidents in which he cheated on his then wife, who had hired a detective to follow him. “A private detective had videos and pictures of me and my new girlfriend, and then my wife called me and said, “How’s your new girlfriend?” She was beautiful, amazing. After a few hours of drinking, I headed to the nearest strip club. Getting drunk in a strip club in the center of Liverpool was not very smart“, he wrote.
