Mourning in world football: The legendary Johan Neskens has died

He passed away suddenly at an old age 73 years old the legendary Dutch midfielder Johan Neskensas announced by its football federation Netherlands (KNVB).

The deceased was part of his large group Ajax who conquered Europe, with three consecutive European cups, between 1971 and 1973headed by Johan Cruyff. The latter was a very good friend of his and together they formed one of the top “pairs” in the history of football, both in “Aianda” and in Barcelona.

THE Neskens arrived at Barcelona from Ajax in the summer of 1974, after the World Cup in Germany, in the final of which he had scored the Orange’s goal from the penalty spot, and played in Catalonia until 1979, after the final in Basel. He is one of the most beloved “outsiders” in the team’s history.

In 2006, he joined the Barcelona coaching staff as Frank Rijkaard’s assistant. Throughout his career, apart from his football intelligence, he stood out for his long hair and characteristic sideburns. He was also its star 1978 World Cupin which the Netherlands he again played in the final, which he lost, this time to Argentina.
