The increase in migration flows registered through the so-called southern corridor that connects Libya with Gavdos and southern Crete is worrying.

As reported by SKAI journalist, Yannis Souliotis, it is typical that in the last four days from Friday to Monday, eight incidents of arrivals of a total of 331 migrants have been recorded, all of whom have sailed from Tobruk, Libya and have issued a distress signal about 30 nautical miles south of Gavdos.

They have been rescued either by tankers floating by or by Coast Guard vessels that have transported them safely to the shore, while they are mainly men and minors from Syria, Egypt, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

An increase is also recorded towards the islands of the Eastern Aegean, Samos, Kos, Agathonisi and what Coast Guard officials are trying to understand is whether this increase is due to the improvement of weather conditions or the escalation of the crisis in the Middle East.
