The coach Stathis Stathopoulos was hosted on “DIKI on SKAI” with Kyriakos Thomaidis and talked about the “eternal” derby that did not produce a winner in OAKA.
Among other things he said:
“The competition that exists between the big teams and because of the suspicion does not allow us to have a Greek referee in the derbies. With VAR we see another champion and without VAR another”he said in his first comment.
For the derby of the ages: “Panathinaikos played with five changes in the game against Olympiacos compared to the match against Banja Luka in Bosnia, while Olympiacos went down with the same line-up as against Braga in “Georgios Karaiskakis”. Of course, such a large rotation in the first seven games is not necessary, but the opponent and the game schedule play a role in this.
Panathinaikos played the best match of this year’s season yesterday. Alonso’s team looked to exploit his static phases and the only thing missing from the OAKA derby was the goal. Tzolakis on two occasions performed two amazing operations and kept Olympiakos standing. On the other hand, Olympiacos also had significant opportunities to score a goal.
Panathinaikos is not taking advantage of its home ground so far and has a scoring problem, having found the net only six times in the Championship and having Djurisic as the top scorer. The Championship has a long way to go, but Panathinaikos is already losing a lot of points.”
About PAOK and Loucescu’s outburst at the press conference: “Criticism of the coach is very easy. Planning is hard. You shouldn’t question the coach. We respect him as long as he does our work and no one should touch him. But in Greece we have learned to humiliate him. In the first category at least they are paid, because below that it is not the case”.
